Recent happenings

Alex is learning some important stuff at school. One night,he was strutting around spouting the newest school sprung mantra. "Keep America Clean." I heard a lot of, "Mommy, we have to keep America clean."

After about ten repeatitions, I'd had enough and said, "Why don't you start with your room?"

No offense was taken, he just cleaned up his room. The down side, Alex now expects me (although he's promised help) to keep every room in the house clean. With 2 babies sick for the last 4 - 5 weeks, that's been impossible. I barely have time to shower every other day.

Andrew has been sick with a sinus problem for the last month. So many nights at bedtime he would need cough syrup to allow him to sleep. One night, Mark went out with his friends. I was dealing with Ryan alternately screaming at me and nursing and Sean spouting icky diaper stuffs and throwing up his breastmilk all over me. As the night continued to wear on, I asked Alex and Andy to go upstairs and get their jammies on.

"Ok, Mommy," Andy said as he toddled upstairs. He was soon back down, with his shirt around his waist and no pants on. I repeated, "Andy, go get ready for bed."

"Ok, Mommy." I see him (while cleaning up Sean-vomit) adjust the lazy-Susan slightly and climb up on the counter. He then opens the medicine cabinet and gets his cough syrup down, grabbing a medicine cup as he heads off the counter top. "Andy, no you can't get your medicine, stop and get your jammies."

"Ok, Mommy," he says as he brings his drugs over, opens the child proof cap (how is it child proof if a 2 year old can open it), and pours a measured dose, spills a drop and runs off to get a baby wipe to clean up the spilled drop.

I was counting the minutes until Mark got home.

Ryan has learned a trick. He likes to give great big baby open mouth kisses. He spreads his arms wide and dives into the recipient's face. He doesn't care where it lands so long as he spreads the wet sloppy love around!

During Sean's hospital stay, a very helpful nurse-resident-aide type hospital employee brought a swing into the room. This swing had a spinning bear smack in the middle of the toy tray. Ryan liked to lean forward in the forward swing and try to capture the bear in his mouth. Alas, the back swing, always came a moment too soon and sent him all the way back. Thwarted and forced to try yet again.

As you gathered from Ryan's bit, Sean spent some days in the hospital -- Saturday admitted, Tuesday discharged. He was a very sick baby-twix. He suffered from a nasty flu virus and was severly dehydrated. Luckily he's back to his usual self although he and Sir Ry are still on the mend.

Seany is feeling better, he actually burst into a fit of giggles that was very quickly followed by a fit of crying last night. During his hospital stay, he was given a couple of stuff animals (one was actually Sir Ry's), he took great pleasure in attempting to bit the cow's paws right off. He enjoyed grabbing handfuls of the fur and then yanking the entire animal to his face.
