Andrew's First Day of Preschool

Andrew wanted to make sure his backpack was pictured! We walk to school as often as we can. When we're about 3 blocks away, he usually says, "Oh, no, we passed my school. We'll have to turn around. Humph!"

Lots of happenings

I know I've been lagging lately. BUT, I have a good excuse -- VISITORS!

Last week, my parents and in-laws were in town! Why you might ask? Well, two of the four most awesome chicklets in Utah were celebrating their second birthday ON THE SAME DAY! Amazing, isn't it!

Yes, the twix are two! We went to the Dinosaur Park. I got the kids party favors -- shovels, pails, and mini-dinosaurs. The place has plenty of sand filled playgrounds. And much to my dad's amusement (but as I knew would happen which is why that was their party favors) the kids LOVED the shovels and pails and dug and dug and dug.

It was not my best party ever -- I still think Harry Potter was the best one. But Alex really loved the race car party best.

The kids especially Alex enjoyed all the grandparents time. He found someone to play a game with him nearly every day.

----

Alex has football. Tough guy sport. There's a bully on his team who chose Alex to pick on. Except Alex doesn't mind, his attitude, "OK, I'll play." "Let's wrestle man!"

---

Ryan and Sean are speech delayed or so I'm told! Sean was standing on the table. "Sean get down right now." (giggle, giggle.) "Sean, I mean it. One." (Pause, while he giggles more).

Ryan looks at me expectantly and then says, "Twooooo. (pause) Three. NO!" Runs to Sean and smacks him. Then comes back to me all smiles and expecting praise."

---

Andrew had his first field trip today -- the fire department! Every time I think he'll really enjoy something. He cries about it while its happening. I finally realized, he was scared of the firemen. One of them said, "Hey buddy. What's your name?" Andrew answered but hid in my legs. "I need you to be my special helper, OK." Andrew nods. "Can you help me give all the kids hats?" Nods.

Then they showed them how they dress. Andrew asks his new friend, "How come you have a yellow hat. Your hat is suppose to be red like the REAL fire hats like us?"

Andy-isms

Yesterday, Andy walked all the way to preschool! He really likes it. Twice a week, a couple hours at a time, a backpack, and FRIENDS!

So on the way to pick him up, Ryan did NOT want to ride in the stroller. He wanted to walk, most of the way. Finally at the last 100 yards, he rode on the basket, holding onto the bars.

When Andy came out, I asked Ry if he wanted to sit and he said, "Nahh." So Andy sat down. Ryan threw a fit. Andy said, "If you wanted to sit, you shouldn't have said no."

Break to the afternoon....

Some neighbor boys came over to invite Alex & Andy to play. I told Andy he could play but only where I can see him = our house.

"OK, Mommy."

Then to his friends, "Do you know what my mom's name is? Its Mommy!"

Dentist, Football, and more

Happening #1
At our dental check up last month, the kids hygienist gave them brushing charts. If they managed to brush twice a day everyday for a month, they one a special prize. All month long, Alex would brush and remind Andrew to brush. On the occasions where Andy would say, "Ah Man! Humph!"

Alex would remind him, "OK, don't brush. Then I'll get the special prize all by myself."Andy brushed.

Yesterday, with full charts they went to the dentist. Actually, Alex went to the dentist while I stayed in the car with the younger three as Ry Guy was sleepy. Five minutes later, Alex came out with PRIZES. To enormous bags of Skittles.
Yes, people, the DENTIST gave his own patients CANDY!

Happening #2
Alex has football. Football season has begun. I feel like every time I turn around something football is happening here. Alex plays it, practices it, runs through plays with Andrew and the twix, watches it on TV etc.

Ryan the mimic has been making the following, "do, do, do, bike!"

Happening #3
The twix are speech delayed. Therapy has begun for Ryan and Sean's will start next week. First step is sign language. That way we can have some idea what, "GRRRRRRunt" means each time they use it. It feels like they've been responding more to the signs but maybe its just my hope that I will deal with less screaming!

First Day of Preschool Jitters

Today is Andy's first day of preschool. That cool cat got nervous! I was surprised, he always so calm and cool about everything. I thought he'd be fine.

"Ah, Mommy""Yes, Andrew?"

"I need a shower and to change my clothes for preschool."

"You're clean and your clothes are clean."

"No, Mommy, I said, 'I NEEEEED a shower.' Please, Mommy."

So, Andrew got a shower and changed his clothes two more times before we left for preschool.

There he said, "Mommy you need to come with me."

And so we went in, he gave me a kiss good bye and watched me drive away.

And its really just preschool...
