Greetings from the Utah Devlins, 2008 was an exciting year!
In April, we moved to a home better suited to four growing boys. We put a play yard in the backyard (with the help of both our dads), got our lawn in, and got the fence up -- looking forward to more progress in 2009!
We also lost Mark's grandfather, James Devlin, in April. Mark was able to see him a month before he passed away and went out in October for his memorial service. He was a great man who was dearly loved by his family.
In September, we went to Disneyland with my parents, sister, and uncle. It was an exciting trip. We celebrated Sean's and Ryan's third birthdays at Goofy's Kitchen at a memorable party complete with princesses and Mickey's gang (minus Mickey). We got to tour the Phineas and Ferb (Disney Channel animated series) studio courtesy of Jeff "Swampy" Marsh (one of the creators) as he became a fan of my blog and the kids antics -- our most fun day ever!
Mark continues to enjoy his position at Prosper, Inc. While I spend all my time taking care of the kids, their various needs, and our home. Except during the 2 weeks in October following my tonsillectomy when our parents and in-laws took care of me.
Alex, nine years old on the twelfth, started third grade at a new school, Park View Elementary. He enjoyed another sports filled year, playing basketball, baseball, soccer, and football. He excels academically and enjoys reading children's literature (currently the Eragon dragons series). We tried (unsuccessfully) casting Alex's legs for four weeks during the spring to correct his toe walking, next step is surgery (which we'll wait on). Alex is looking forward to celebrating his birthday at a Utah Jazz game with his friends.
Andrew, five years old on the twentieth, started his second year of preschool, knows his alphabet, can count to a hundred (with a little help) and loves to play video games. He enjoyed his soccer season and loves to play adventure games at the park. Andrew will celebrate his birthday with a Cars theme costume party complete with races, cupcakes, and a parade.
Sean and Ryan, now 3 years old, aged out of their therapy programs and qualified for the school district preschool program. They take the bus to school twice a week and come home sleeping. Since starting preschool both boys have made advances in their speech development. They love to play with each other and one on one with Alex and Andrew. Besides playing, they (Sean especially) continue to create havoc in their wake! Sean was hospitalized with a flu virus last month and we are hoping that both boys can stay out of the hospital this winter. Ryan has had minimial issues with his spina bifida this year.
As Christmas draws near, we are thankful for family and friends and all the help we've received. We wish each of you a joyful holiday season and a delightful 2009!
Love, Mark, Kathryn, Alex, Andrew, Sean, and Ryan

Kathryn, it was so fun to hear about how you and your family are doing. Payson sounds like a good move for you; I hope it works out to be just what you need. I just can't picture Alex as 9 . . . in my mind, he's still 7. Weird, because he's Xandy's age, but I can't picture it.
We miss you. I'll never regret being the one to give you the pregnancy test when you wondered if you were (with the twix). Remember? I feel like such a part of it, somehow.
Love you,
Erika
