At boyscouts, Alex unveiled his soap carving. A "P." He chose it in honor of St. Patrick's Day.
At school he showed off his invention. "Can Crusher" uses 3 simple machines -- screws, a lever, and a wedge.

That is some amazing stuff he designed. His engineering skills are at an exceptional level (better than some I have seen from folks who (claim to) do that for living)!

His first draft of the can crusher included a pulley to move the lever. Way too complicated. We dumbed it down a bit so that he and Mark could actually build it.
We learned when we got there that we were supposed to paint it, at least most of the others were painted.
