Visiting Phineas and Ferb at the Disney Studios

Our visit to the Phineas and Ferb studio was amazing. Swampy, Dan, and their staff were so gracious and generous with their time and shared tidbits of working-there fun (Mark actually wants to work for them -- if they need a guy with no artistic talent! Heck, I wouldn't mind working there myself!) as well as showing us how they make the show.
We got to see a new story board they put up -- they use a lot of post-its, a bit of drawings set to animation, character sketches, how the painter does the backgrounds.... And Swampy took us through the Disney tunnel. The illustrators and painters were kept in separate buildings back in the day. So, to keep the cells in fine shape, Disney had a tunnel built to connect the 2 buildings. Alex and Andrew loved the tunnel. Andrew even checked to make sure it wasn't scary.
Swampy was just as awesome as he seemed on my blog and in emails. Dan, the other creator, did the voice of Doofenschmirtz to the delight of the chicklets and Swampy drew some characters for the boys. They both signed posters for each chicklet and gave us a DVD and the most hilarious CD I've ever heard. (We can't share that, but trust me its very funny, very very funny!) They are both really cool people.
Mark and I both said after, "I didn't want to seem like a dork and keep saying, I loved it when..."
Later in the week, we were all still rehashing the visit to Phineas and Ferb....

Andrew: "Swampy's friend did Doofen-shirts voice so funny! (giggling)"

Alex: "That was Dan, he is Doofenschmirtz, Andrew."

Andrew: "Well, then who does Swampy do?"

Alex: "He does Major Monogram."

Andrew: "Well, next time we visit, will he do the voice for us?"
Alex: "IF we visit. Mommy, will Swampy let us visit again?"

Mommy: "Yes, he sent an email to that affect."
Andrew: "Well, I don't know what an effect is, but I want to see Swampy again."

Alex: "Andrew, it is when they make something real cool happen in the cartoon OR when Swampy invited us to see him."

The kids were utterly delighted with Swampy, Dan, and the staff. Thank you again. We had a great time! Definitely, one of our best days ever!
